EXPRESSIONS IN WATERCOLOUR WITH ALAN RAMACHANDRAN


SATURDAY 3 JUNE 2017, 10.00 - 4.00pm 


Join award-winning watercolour artist, Alan Ramachandran in a workshop on watercolours, as he guides you through the elements of composition and selection of what to add/leave out, colour choices and brushwork technique. At the end of the day you will have the knowledge of how to paint in watercolour and a painting to take home and enjoy.

EXPLORATION IN TEXTURE - MIXED MEDIA PAINTING WITH GAYNOR HARTVIGSEN


SATURDAY 17 JUNE 2017, 10.00 - 4.00pm 


In this workshop you will delve into the fascinating world of textural painting techniques. Expand your repertoire of mark-making and textural effects and learn how to make your own texture medium. Beginners welcome. 


Gaynor Hartvigsen is a contemporary artist and experienced educator. Her art practice ranges from contemporary landscape and conceptual painting to sculptural assemblages using found and recycled materials.


Participants to bring their own basic materials (acrylic paints, boards etc). Gaynor will provide a list of required materials on booking.

BOTANICAL PRINTING: APPLICATION FOR WEARABLE ART & HOME DECOR 

WITH IGORA OPALA


SATURDAY 22 JULY & SUNDAY 23 JULY 2017, 9.00 - 5.00pm 


This workshops teaches basic felting technique and botanical printing, and then concentrates on design in felting including how to incorporate botanical printed pieces in felting. 


Day 1 …Botanical printing on wool and silk

  • Introduction

Ø  Choosing and preparation of fabric

Ø  Use of recycled fabric and clothes

Ø  Selection of plant material

 

  • Experimental trial

Ø  Try out various effects of different plant materials on fabric (silk or wool)

 

  • Image design

Ø  Based on the experimental trail results, learn how to design your own botanical print image on fabric

 

Day 2 …Integration of Botanically printed fabric into felt

  • Creation of wearable art and decorative items for home

Ø  Using the self-printed fabric from day 1 workshop for this project

Ø  Learn how to make your own prefelt

Ø  How to integrate the botanical self-printed fabric with the prefelt

§  Pro and cons of making your own prefelt versus using purchased prefelt

§  Creation of wearable art

§  Creation of decorative items for the home.

§  Learn the technique of nuno felting (combing fabric with wool)


All tools for day 1 & 2 will be provided. All materials for

learning the basic techniques will be provided.



Cost - $50 for each day, materials included.
